Manto Huichol Obsidian · Silver Pendant

Manto Huichol Obsidian · Silver Pendant

This piece of Mexican Obsidian is incredible! From some angles it can appear dark, almost black, but once in the Sunlight it comes alive and reveals its swirling colours of greens and blues! With patterns which are almost smoke-like. Also known as Velvet or Peacock Obsidian, here in South America they are known as 'Manto Huichol' as their beautiful mix of colours, the stones are reminiscent of the visions of the Mexican Huichol tribe during their ritual ceremonies with Peyote.

This piece is wrapped in hallmarked 925 Silver with a single Tiger's Eye bead for contrast. This metalwork technique dates back thousands of years to pre-Incan artisans. Made using only pliers to shape the Silver, with no soldering or heat.
