Plant a tree 🌱

Here you can make a donation to help buy, plant and protect more trees; restoring native plant species to the Peruvian Amazon and creating habitat for local animal and bird species 🌴🌳🦜🦥🦋🦇🐸

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.

We love trees.

When we’re not making jewellery, we’re out planting as often as we can.

(If you’ve been following us for a while on our Instagram you may already know this.)

Around 8 years ago, we became the stewards of a beautiful 5-acre piece of land in Pucallpa for our reforesting dreams. Since then we’ve planted over 120 saplings. With our aim for 2023 to plant another 100.

We are very lucky to be caring for this piece of land and by reforesting it will help reduce the impact of climate change and help increase habitat areas for Amazonian wildlife species.

We know that many people around the world would love to be able to go out planting. But may not have the chance to do so, especially if you live in a big city or don’t have access to a green space. Which is why we wanted to give you the opportunity to be involved in our project!

Your donation will help us buy more saplings and we will happily plant them on your behalf.

So you can plant a tree - without getting your hands dirty 👐🏼

The piece of land has two distinct areas: the lower area through which a small stream runs and for around four months of the year is underwater (January to April). The upper area is more field-like, drier and doesn’t ever flood.

Therefore, the types of saplings we plant need to vary depending on which area they’ll be.

For the lower area we’ll plant trees that love water and species that can be submerged for many months.

Focusing on native Amazonian timber species such as: Aguaje, Capirona, Catahua, Marupa, Palo Sangre and Quinilla.

For the upper area we’ll plant a mixture of fruit trees, flowering trees and timber trees

Such as: Caimito, Cedar, Copiaba, Huayruro, Mango, Lemon, Macambo, Marañón, Poma Rosa and Tahuari.

We source the saplings from several local ‘viveros’ (nurseries) and the Dirección Regional de Agricultura Ucayali (DRAU)

Where will the trees be planted?

The saplings will be planted in San Juan de Yarinacocha, Pucallpa, Perú. By us 👐🏼

When will you be planting?

Throughout 2023 we’ll be aiming to have a monthly planting session, recording the number of saplings planted each month here.
