Manto Huichol Obsidian SACHA SISA · Macrame Necklace
Manto Huichol Obsidian SACHA SISA · Macrame Necklace
SACHA SISA meaning JUNGLE FLOWER in Quechua, this design is inspired by the tropical flora here. Intricately woven petals and leaves with different tones to portray the beautiful array of colours of the jungle flora. This necklace is made with a beautiful piece of Manto Huichol Obsidian from Mexico. The stone appears dark from afar, but held in the sunlight or bright light it reveals a lovely mix of blues, teals and dark forest greens. The swirling, smoke-like patterns of Manto Huichol are likened to the visions created by taking Peyote during ceremony. The name ‘Manto Huichol Obsidian’ comes from the Huicholes or Wixarikas (of Nahuatl-Aztec roots) from the North West of Mexico. These are the guardians of the sacred Peyote cactus. Obsidian is a form of volcanic glass, which was used in sacred rituals by ancient cultures in both Central and South America. It is known for it’s grounding and protective properties.
Handmade using high-quality Brazilian wax coated threads and only natural stones. This piece is water resistant, lightweight and feels comfortable on the skin. The necklace has an adjustable length, so can be worn high-up (as in the photo) or much lower depending on how you’d like to wear it.
Each necklace will arrive in a cotton ITAYA drawstring bag for safe keeping.
