Floripondio Flowers · Hand Embroidered Shipibo Textile

Floripondio Flowers · Hand Embroidered Shipibo Textile

US$40.00

These authentic textiles are handmade by native Shipibo-Konibo women of the Ucayali region of Eastern Peru. This textile has been embroidered with depictions of native Floripondio, (known as ‘Trumpet flowers’) a plant known and used as medicine within both the Amazon and Andean regions. Known as Toé in the selva, its leaves can be added to an Ayahuasca brew to fortify its hallucinogenic effects.

Embroidered entirely by hand, their designs are influenced by the sacred Ayahuasca plant (The Mother Plant), with complex geometric patterns which are a visual representation of their spirit world. The textiles carry a healing or blessing and are sung like a musical score, which is called an Icaro. The patterns represent the vibrational frequency of the Icaros, as it appears in the visual world of Ayahuasca.

These are original textile pieces coming from the Amazon region, created by working Shipibo mothers and grandmothers. We source them directly from the artesanas themselves and have become friends with many of them over the years.

This circular textile is beautifully intricate, vibrantly colourful, one-of-a-kind and has taken hours of needlework to embroider. You will be the holder of a true piece of Shipibo culture and wisdom, the holder of a physical piece of art that represents their unique bond with nature. 🌿

This textile will arrive with a twine bow, in a reusable 100% cotton ITAYA drawstring bag for safe keeping.

They are very versatile pieces so could be used:
